Buyback pricing matrix
| Grade | Per-pallet pay | Pickup minimum | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade A (unrepaired, clean) | $3-5 | 250 single-size | Resold to retail / grocery / food customers |
| Grade B (structurally sound + repair) | $1-2 | 250 single-size | Repaired to Grade A or sold as industrial |
| Mixed condition | $0.40-1.00 | 250 single-size | Pre-sort labor reduces our buy price |
| Broken cores / recovery | $0.10-0.50 | 500+ recommended | Chipped for mulch or stripped for parts |
How buyback economics work
Used pallet buyback is a function of three variables: pallet grade (Grade A vs Grade B vs mixed vs broken), pickup volume (single-size 250+ qualifies for standard buyback rates), and proximity to our processing yards (Lakeland and Jacksonville for Florida pickup; partner-broker routes for national pickup).
Grade A 48x40 GMA pallets resell for $7-10 each as recycled, so we can pay $3-5 and capture our processing, inspection, and freight margin. Grade B requires repair labor before resale ($1-2 per pallet in labor), so we pay less. Mixed loads add sort labor ($0.40-0.60 per pallet); broken cores can only enter the chip-and-mulch stream or strip-for-parts.
Loads under 250 pallets typically fall outside our standard route economics. If you have 50-200 pallets, request a quote anyway - we sometimes consolidate multiple sellers on the same route and can offer a partial-load rate. Florida sellers in our 19 same-day counties have the most flexibility because pickup routing is dense.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you pay for used pallets?
Grade A used pallets: $3-5 each. Grade B: $1-2 each. Mixed condition loads or broken cores: $0.25-1.00 each. Pickup minimum is 250 pallets single-size. Loads under 250 pallets fall to the recovery stream at $0.10-0.50 per pallet.
What's the difference between Grade A and Grade B?
Grade A pallets have all original, unrepaired stringers, clean appearance, no broken or replaced boards, GMA stamp visible if applicable. They're ready for retail-facing resale. Grade B pallets are structurally sound with up to 2 replaced deck boards or plugged stringers - they need repair before resale, so we pay less for them.
Why is the pickup minimum 250 pallets?
Truck routing economics. A 250-pallet pickup fills enough of a 53-foot dry van that the round-trip freight cost is justified. Smaller pickups (under 250 pallets) cost us more to retrieve than the pallets are worth. We do consolidate smaller pickups when multiple sellers are on the same route - request a quote and we'll check route economics.
Why single-size only?
Sorting mixed loads adds 30-45 minutes per truck of inspection labor at our processing yards. Single-size loads (all 48x40 GMA, or all 48x48 beverage) go straight to grading lane. Mixed loads require pre-sort, which we don't pay for in the buyback price. If your load has multiple sizes, request separate quotes per size.
How fast is pickup scheduled?
Pickup typically scheduled within 5 business days of quote acceptance. Florida pickup in 19 same-day counties is faster - often next-day. National pickup via partner broker network runs 5-10 business days depending on route + truck availability.
How do I get paid?
ACH transfer to your business bank account within 14 days of pickup confirmation, after grading is complete at our processing yard. Alternative: credit applied to your next new-pallet purchase (often results in higher effective value because we waive the volume tier minimum for credit-applied transactions).
Does the price include freight?
No - the per-pallet buyback price is net to you after pickup. Pickup freight is on us within standard routes. If your location requires a deadhead trip outside our standard routes (unusual), we may negotiate a deduction; this is rare and always disclosed in the written quote before pickup.
Can I sell broken or damaged pallets?
Yes - broken cores and severely damaged pallets enter the recovery stream at $0.10-0.50 per pallet. They're chipped for mulch (sold separately) or stripped for parts. Volume helps: 500+ broken cores on a truck can still justify pickup at the lower per-pallet rate.
