Georgia is one of the most pallet-intensive states in the Southeast. With more than 1,500 food and beverage companies, the Port of Savannah handling over 5.5 million TEUs annually, and a growing automotive corridor in West Georgia anchored by Kia (West Point) and Hyundai (Bryan County), demand for pallets runs high year-round.

Where these come from, and why Georgia is the cheapest of the five states we publish. The state table in our pallet cost guide puts Georgia at $7 to $11 recycled Grade A and $12 to $16 new, below Florida, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey on both, and the reason is lumber rather than demand: Georgia sits on top of the southern yellow pine mill belt, so new stock is built closer to where the boards are cut and carries less freight in its cost. Grade B and Grade C are the national published bands from the same guide, because the state table breaks out state-level figures for Grade A recycled and new GMA only. That is also why the Georgia Grade A band overlaps the national Grade B band at the top: a Georgia Grade A pallet can land at a price a buyer in a costlier state would be quoted for Grade B, and the same $9 to $13 national Grade A range is published independently on our pallet grades guide. The heat-treatment row is the cost guide's published ISPM-15 premium of $2 to $3. One row is derived with the arithmetic printed: block applies the 15% to 30% block premium to new GMA ($12 x 1.15 = $13.80, $16 x 1.30 = $20.80, rounded to $14 to $21). Delivered, Georgia is the one state where we can print the number. Atlanta, Savannah and Macon all fall inside the 50-to-300-mile regional truckload band in the cost guide, which adds $2 to $4 per pallet, so a Grade A delivered into Georgia runs $9 to $15 ($7 + $2 and $11 + $4). Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey are past the published freight table and have to be quoted. Ask for a quote.

The Port of Savannah (Garden City Terminal) is the fourth busiest container port in the US and a critical gateway for Southeast importers and exporters. Any wooden pallets used to ship goods internationally must comply with ISPM-15 standards -- heat treated to 56°C core temperature for 30 continuous minutes and stamped with the IPPC mark.
We supply ISPM-15 compliant heat treated pallets to Savannah area shippers with documented treatment certificates on request. Lead time: 2-5 business days on standard sizes.

Most Georgia food and beverage distributors require Grade A (near-new) GMA 48x40 stringer pallets for outbound product. They must be free of chemical contamination, protruding nails, broken boards, and pest evidence. Retailers like Kroger and Walmart (both with major DCs near Atlanta) specify Grade A pallets per their own compliance guides.
Yes -- if your cargo is bound for an international destination, USDA and the importing country's phytosanitary regulations require ISPM-15 compliant pallets bearing the IPPC mark. Domestic shipments within the US do not require ISPM-15 treatment. We can provide documentation and treatment certificates for all export orders.
