Retail & Distribution Pallet Supply

High-volume pallet inventory for retail distribution centers

Retail and distribution operations account for 15-20% of all pallet consumption in the United States. Every product that reaches a store shelf or customer doorstep travels on pallets through an intricate network of distribution centers, cross-dock facilities, and fulfillment warehouses.

Florida Pallet Supply serves retail distribution centers, e-commerce fulfillment operations, and third-party warehouses with consistent, high-volume pallet supply. Our GMA standard pallets ensure compatibility across retail supply chains, while our recycled options deliver significant cost savings for high-turnover distribution environments.

How Does Pallet Distribution Work for Retail Distribution Centers?

Pallet distribution means keeping a steady supply of empty pallets flowing into a distribution center so loaded pallets can move out to stores and customers. Retail DCs source pallets in one of two ways. They buy white-wood pallets outright, new or recycled GMA 48x40, and keep, reuse or sell them back. Or they rent pooled pallets from a pooling company such as CHEP or PECO, which delivers the pallets, collects them after shipment, then inspects and repairs them before reissuing (How CHEP Works; PECO pallet specifications). Many DCs run both: pooled pallets where a retailer or supplier requires them, and owned pallets for internal storage, cross-dock and one-way loads.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pallet grade do I need for my distribution center?

Grade A recycled pallets are recommended for automated systems and racking. Grade B works well for floor storage, shipping, and one-way applications. New pallets are required for some retail display and customer-facing scenarios.

Can you supply during peak seasonal demand?

Yes. We maintain surge inventory specifically for peak periods (Q4 holiday, back-to-school, etc.) and can scale deliveries from 1 to 10+ truckloads per week.

Do your pallets work with automated warehouse systems?

Our GMA standard pallets meet the dimensional tolerances required by AS/RS systems, conveyor lines, and robotic handling equipment. We can supply to tighter specs if needed.

What size pallet do retail distribution centers use?

Most U.S. retail and grocery distribution runs on the 48 x 40 inch GMA pallet. PECO says all of its pallets are built to the standard dimensions used by the grocery and consumer goods industries, offered in the GMA 48x40 size and a 48x20 half pallet (PECO pallet specifications). Florida Pallet Supply stocks 48x40 pallets new and in recycled Grade A and Grade B, plus 48x48, 42x42 and other sizes for specialty retail loads. Check each retailer's routing guide before you ship, since some chains set their own pallet requirements.

Should a distribution center rent pooled pallets or buy its own?

It depends on where the pallets go. Pooling suits loads that ship to retailers who expect pooled pallets, because the provider handles pickup, inspection and repair after delivery (How CHEP Works). Owning pallets suits internal storage, staging, cross-dock and one-way shipments, where you want no rental tracking and can resell or reuse the pallets. Many distribution centers do both. Florida Pallet Supply supplies the owned side in new and recycled GMA 48x40, with volume pricing on full truckloads.
