Where these come from, and why New Jersey is the most expensive of the five states we publish. The state table in our pallet cost guide puts New Jersey at $9 to $14 recycled Grade A and $15 to $20 new, above Florida, Georgia, Maryland and Delaware on both. It is a demand price, not a lumber price: the pharmaceutical corridor and the Port Newark logistics cluster compete for the same recycled cores that a Georgia buyer can source next to the mill, and dense competition on the sell side does not lower a cost driven by core scarcity. Grade B and Grade C are the national published bands from the same guide, because the state table breaks out state-level figures for Grade A recycled and new GMA only. The ISPM-15 row is derived and the arithmetic is here: the cost guide publishes a heat-treatment premium of $2 to $3 per pallet, applied to the New Jersey new GMA range ($15 + $2 = $17, $20 + $3 = $23).
