Operational details for California
Which compliance standards apply?
GMA 48x40 four-way stringer construction conforms to the National Wooden Pallet & Container Association (NWPCA) 2014 Uniform Standard; deck board configuration 7-board top, 5-board bottom.
California regulatory context
California Code of Regulations Title 14 Section 17855 requires wood pallet recyclers to maintain CalRecycle facility permits; our partner network includes permitted facilities in Fontana, Stockton, and Fresno for return-stream service.
California wildfire compliance under SB 1241 requires fire-resistant materials within 30-foot defensible-space zones; our heat-treated solid hardwood meets Class A fire rating for staging areas outside structures.
What are the pallet specifications?
Standard 48x40 GMA pallets feature 5/8 inch deck boards with a 4-board face pattern; bottom configuration is 3-board for four-way fork entry; nail pattern uses 2.5 inch screw-shank galvanized fasteners.
48x40 GMA load capacity is 2,800 lb racked (face-loaded), 4,600 lb static, and 2,500 lb dynamic per ASME MH1 2016; deck board span 3.5 inches; deflection under rated load <0.5 inch.
Delivery and logistics
Dry-van loads handle weather-sensitive pallet stock and food-grade freight; sealed loads with bill-of-lading documentation; supports DOT-required commercial routing.
Customer use case
Marine industry suppliers (Fort Lauderdale, Stuart, Miami) use exterior-rated pallets that resist saltwater corrosion; treated lumber stock available; preferred for boat-component freight to Bahamas and Caribbean.
How are these pallets priced?
Custom pallet pricing depends on lumber spec, build complexity, and quantity: small runs (50-200 units) typically $35-55 per unit; large runs (500+ units) drop to $22-32 per unit; quotes returned in <2 hours.
Sustainability
Our Lakeland and Jacksonville recycling streams process 200,000+ pallets per year; broken stock is repaired or chipped for mulch (sold separately); zero-landfill goal targeted for 2027.
