Operational details for Illinois
Which compliance standards apply?
Kiln-dried hardwood meets NWPCA Uniform Standard for Wood Pallets; moisture content verified <19% at dispatch, blade-cut deck boards, no visible bark.
Illinois regulatory context
Port of Chicago Calumet Harbor and Joliet inland-port operations require ISPM-15 documentation for export loads; we coordinate with Illinois International Port District and Joliet Terminal Railroad for certified loads.
Illinois Department of Transportation oversize-load permits restrict pallet shipments via I-55, I-57, and I-80; our IDOT-permitted carriers handle Chicago-area, Springfield-corridor, and Quad Cities routing.
What are the pallet specifications?
Lumber spec for new GMA stock: mixed hardwood (oak, maple, ash, hickory) with minimum 600 SG (specific gravity); kiln dried to <19% moisture; visible defects limited to wane on outer 1/3 of deck board only.
Block pallets (four-way entry) use nine 4-inch hardwood blocks with continuous-face top deck; ideal for ASRS (automated storage and retrieval) and AGV (automated guided vehicle) operations where stringer interruptions cause read-failures.
Delivery and logistics
Flatbed delivery handles oversized loads or pallets with overhanging product; tarping included; preferred for export crates and bulk lumber shipments.
Customer use case
Healthcare and medical-device manufacturers (Pinellas County corridor) use custom foam-lined pallets to protect $50K+ equipment shipments; build-to-print available on 3-day lead time.
How are these pallets priced?
Net 30 terms standard for established customers with credit approval; Net 15 or COD for first three orders; credit card and ACH accepted for spot orders.
Sustainability
Pallet recycling diverts ~80% of returned stock from landfill; recycled pallets carry 60-70% lower embodied carbon than new GMA; our annual sustainability report documents tons diverted per customer.
